feat(community): add Serper Google Images provider for image_search (#3575)
* feat(community): add Serper Google Images provider for image_search Add a Serper-backed `image_search` tool alongside the existing Serper `web_search` provider, so users with a SERPER_API_KEY can pull Google Images results as reference images for downstream image generation. - Share request/response handling between web_search and image_search via `_serper_post` / `_response_items`, with bounded `max_results` (capped at 10) and query normalization. - Add a best-effort SSRF guard (`_safe_public_url`) that rejects non-http(s), localhost and private/non-global IP image URLs; filtered entries are dropped and never consume the result limit. - doctor: flag literal `api_key` values in config as a warning and steer users toward `.env` + `$SERPER_API_KEY`. - Docs/config: document the Serper image_search provider and SERPER_API_KEY, and discourage committing literal keys to config.yaml. - Tests: cover the provider end-to-end (100% line coverage on tools.py) and the doctor literal-key warning path. * fix(community): block obfuscated IPv4 literals in Serper image SSRF guard The image_search SSRF guard only rejected dotted-decimal IP literals; encoded forms such as decimal (http://2130706433/), hex (0x7f000001) and octal (0177.0.0.1) raised ValueError in ip_address() and were allowed through, even though many HTTP clients resolve them to private addresses like 127.0.0.1. Add _decode_ipv4() to permissively decode these inet_aton-style encodings and apply the same is_global check; hostnames that do not decode to an IP (e.g. cafe.com) are still treated as hosts and left to fetch-time re-validation. Addresses PR review feedback. Tests cover decimal/hex/octal loopback and private encodings plus non-IP edge cases; tools.py stays at 100% line coverage. * test(community): cover IPv4-mapped IPv6 URL filtering * fix(community): address Serper image search review feedback - Block trailing-dot hostname SSRF bypass (localhost./127.0.0.1.) in _safe_public_url by stripping the FQDN root label before checks. - Keep a filtered image/thumbnail URL empty instead of collapsing onto its counterpart, preserving the high-res/preview contract. - Evaluate the SSRF guard once per field rather than twice. - Treat a null-typed organic/images field as "no results" rather than a malformed payload. - doctor.py: when a config $VAR is unset, fall through to the default env var before reporting it as not set. |

fix(sandbox): create shell session before retrying on a fresh id (#3577)
* fix(sandbox): create shell session before retrying on a fresh id The AIO sandbox recovery path generated a UUID and passed it straight to exec_command(id=...). The sandbox image only auto-creates a session when exec_command is called with *no* id; an exec carrying an unknown id returns HTTP 404 "Session not found". So every ErrorObservation recovery itself 404'd, turning a transient session lapse into an unrecoverable tool error that looped the run up to the LangGraph recursion limit. Explicitly create_session(id=fresh_id) before targeting that id on retry. create_session is idempotent (returns the existing session if the id already exists), so this is safe under the serializing lock. Updated the regression test to assert the retry targets exactly the created session id rather than a fabricated, uncreated one. * fix(sandbox): release the one-shot recovery session after retry The fresh session created on the ErrorObservation recovery path is used for exactly one command -- the next execute_command runs with no id and returns to the default session. Under persistent session corruption every command would create another session that is never reused or released, accumulating sessions on the container. Release it best-effort with cleanup_session() in a finally, swallowing any cleanup error so it never masks a successful retry. feat(community): add Brave Search web search tool (#3528)
* feat(community): add Brave Search web search tool Add a community web_search provider backed by the official Brave Search API (https://api.search.brave.com/res/v1/web/search). API key is read from the tool config (inline api_key) or the BRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEY env var. Output schema (title/url/content) matches existing search tools. No new dependencies (uses the existing httpx). Also wires up the setup wizard, doctor health check, config example, and EN/ZH docs. * refactor(community): drop redundant [:count] slice in Brave search The Brave API already caps results via the `count` request param, so client-side slicing was redundant. Tests now simulate the API honoring `count` instead of relying on the slice. Addresses PR review nit. * style(tests): apply ruff format to test_doctor.py Collapse multiline write_text calls onto single lines to satisfy the CI ruff formatter (lint-backend was failing on format --check). |

feat(community): add SearXNG and Browserless web search/fetch tools (#3451)
* feat(community): add SearXNG and Browserless web search/fetch tools - SearXNG web_search: privacy-focused meta search engine integration with configurable base_url via config.yaml tool settings - Browserless web_fetch: headless browser page fetching with readability article extraction - Both tools are fully configurable through tool config section - No external API keys required for basic operation * fix: address PR review feedback and add unit tests - Guard config.model_extra against None values (review #1, #2) - Coerce max_results to int when reading from config (review #2) - Fix web_fetch_tool to use direct HTTP fetch instead of reusing the web_search client config (review #3) - Fix misleading docstring for SearxngClient.fetch (review #4) - Remove unused target_url variable to pass Ruff lint (review #5) - Normalize bool config values with _normalize_bool helper to handle env-resolved string values correctly (review #6) - Add unit tests for both SearXNG and Browserless client classes and their tool functions with mocked httpx (review #7, #8) * fix: convert to async httpx to avoid blocking I/O on event loop - Replace httpx.Client with httpx.AsyncClient in both client classes - Convert tool functions to async def - Wrap readability_extractor calls in asyncio.to_thread() - Update all tests to use pytest.mark.asyncio and async mocks - Fix import sorting to pass Ruff lint * fix(browserless): replace deprecated waitUntil with waitForEvent The Browserless API has deprecated the waitUntil parameter. Replace with waitForEvent which accepts values like 'networkidle'. Default is empty (no wait), configurable via config.yaml. * fix(browserless): remove deprecated gotoTimeout and bestAttempt params The Browserless /content API does not accept gotoTimeout or bestAttempt as top-level payload keys. These were being sent unconditionally, causing 400 Bad Request errors on current Browserless versions. Changes: - Remove goto_timeout_ms parameter and 'gotoTimeout' from payload - Remove best_attempt parameter and 'bestAttempt' from payload - Remove _normalize_bool helper (no longer needed) - Remove goto_timeout_ms and best_attempt config reading in tools.py - Add tests for waitForSelector and reject params - Verify no deprecated params are sent in test_fetch_html_success * refactor(searxng): remove web_fetch_tool, decouple from web_search config SearXNG is a search engine — it should only provide web_search_tool. The web_fetch responsibility belongs to Browserless (headless Chrome) or Jina AI, not SearXNG. Changes: - Remove web_fetch_tool from SearXNG tools.py and __init__.py - Remove SearxngClient.fetch() method (no longer needed) - Remove unused asyncio/readability imports from SearXNG tools.py - Add test for max_results string-to-int coercion from config - Add test for search with categories parameter - Add test for httpx.RequestError handling - Apply ruff format fixes to browserless_client.py and test files |

[codex] Fix stale AIO sandbox cache reuse (#3494)
* Fix stale AIO sandbox cache reuse * Address AIO sandbox review feedback * Distinguish sandbox health check failures * Keep local discovery recoverable when the runtime check fails LocalContainerBackend.discover() shares _is_container_running, which now raises on transient daemon errors instead of returning False. Discovery has no exception handling in _discover_or_create_with_lock(_async), so a brief Docker hiccup turned a recoverable "could not verify, create instead" into a hard acquire failure. Catch the check failure inside discover() and return None so an unverifiable container is simply not adopted, restoring the pre-change fall-through while keeping raise-on-unknown semantics protecting the destroy path. Reported by fancy-agent on PR #3494. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Narrow the not-found match in container inspect error handling A bare "not found" substring also matches transient failures like "command not found" or "context not found", which would misclassify a check error as "container definitely gone" and bypass the raise-on-unknown contract. Keep Docker's specific "No such object"/"No such container" phrases, and only trust a generic "not found" (Apple Container) when the message names the inspected container or refers to a container/object. Reported by WillemJiang on PR #3494. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(web_fetch): support proxy for Jina reader in restricted networks (#3418) (#3430)
* fix(web_fetch): support proxy for Jina reader in restricted networks The web_fetch tool built a bare httpx.AsyncClient() with no proxy awareness, so users behind a corporate proxy / in Docker / WSL could not reach https://r.jina.ai and web_fetch timed out. - Add optional `proxy` / `trust_env` params to JinaClient.crawl and wire them from the `web_fetch` tool config (with type coercion for YAML string values). - Pass internal service hostnames through NO_PROXY in both compose files so proxy env inherited via env_file does not break in-cluster calls (gateway/provisioner/etc). - Load proxy vars from .env into the shell in scripts/docker.sh so the NO_PROXY interpolation can merge user-provided values on `make` path. - Document proxy/trust_env options in config.example.yaml. fix(sandbox): close AioSandbox HTTP client during provider teardown (#2872) (#3245)
* fix(sandbox): close AioSandbox HTTP client during provider teardown (#2872) AioSandbox allocates a host-side agent_sandbox client (wrapping an httpx.Client) in __init__, but AioSandboxProvider.release/destroy/shutdown only popped provider state and tore down the backend container — the client/transport owned by each cached AioSandbox was never explicitly closed, accumulating unreclaimed sockets in long-running services. - Add AioSandbox.close(): best-effort, idempotent close of the wrapped httpx_client (falls back to top-level client.close()); errors are logged but never raised so backend cleanup is never blocked. - AioSandboxProvider.release()/destroy() now close the cached AioSandbox before dropping it; shutdown() inherits this via destroy(). * fix(sandbox): close the real httpx.Client owned by AioSandbox (#2872) The previous close() only walked one level (wrapper.httpx_client), which resolves to the Fern-generated HttpClient wrapper that has no close(). The real socket-owning httpx.Client lives one level deeper at _client_wrapper.httpx_client.httpx_client, so the close path never fired and host-side sockets still leaked. Resolve the real httpx.Client with graceful degradation; clear self._client under the lock for use-after-close and concurrent double-close safety; mark provider release()/destroy() try/except as defense-in-depth; rewrite TestClose against the real nested structure to lock down the original no-op bug. |

fix(sandbox): avoid blocking sandbox readiness polling (#2822)
* fix(sandbox): offload async sandbox acquisition Run blocking sandbox provider acquisition through the async provider hook so eager sandbox setup does not stall the event loop. * fix(sandbox): add async readiness polling Introduce an async sandbox readiness poller using httpx and asyncio.sleep while preserving the existing synchronous API. * test(sandbox): cover async readiness polling Lock in non-blocking readiness behavior so the async helper does not regress to requests.get or time.sleep. * fix(sandbox): allow anonymous backend creation * fix(sandbox): use async readiness in provider acquisition * fix(sandbox): use async acquisition for lazy tools * test(sandbox): cover anonymous remote creation * fix(sandbox): clamp async readiness timeout budget * fix(sandbox): offload async lock file handling * fix(sandbox): delegate async middleware fallthrough * docs(sandbox): document async acquisition path * fix(sandbox): offload async sandbox release * docs(sandbox): mention async release hook * fix(sandbox): address async lock review Reduce duplicate sync/async sandbox acquisition state handling and move async thread-lock waits onto a dedicated executor with cancellation-safe cleanup. * chore: retrigger ci Retrigger GitHub Actions after upstream main fixed the stale PR merge lint failure. * test(sandbox): sync backend unit fixtures --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

feat(community): add Serper web search provider (#2630)
* feat(community): add Serper web search provider Add a new community search provider backed by the Serper Google Search API (https://serper.dev). Serper returns real-time Google results via a simple JSON API and requires only an API key — no extra Python package. Changes: - backend/packages/harness/deerflow/community/serper/__init__.py - backend/packages/harness/deerflow/community/serper/tools.py Implements web_search_tool using httpx (already a project dependency). API key is read from config.yaml `api_key` field or SERPER_API_KEY env var. Follows the same interface / output shape as the existing ddg_search provider. Exposes max_results parameter (default 5) with config override logic. - backend/tests/test_serper_tools.py Unit tests covering API key resolution, config overrides, HTTP errors, empty results, and parameter passing. - config.example.yaml: add commented-out Serper example alongside other providers - .env.example: add SERPER_API_KEY placeholder Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Fix the lint error * Fix the lint error --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix(sandbox): pass no_change_timeout to exec_command to prevent 120s premature termination (#2685)
* fix(sandbox): pass no_change_timeout to exec_command to prevent 120s premature termination The agent_sandbox library's shell API defaults no_change_timeout to 120 seconds. When AioSandbox.execute_command() called exec_command() without this parameter, commands producing no output for 120s would return with NO_CHANGE_TIMEOUT status even though the script was still running. Pass no_change_timeout=600 to all exec_command calls (matching the client-level HTTP timeout) so long-running commands are not cut short. Fixes #2668 * test(sandbox): add assertions for no_change_timeout in execute_command and list_dir Agent-Logs-Url: https://github.com/bytedance/deer-flow/sessions/2f37bc72-0826-4443-a6ba-e5b78c22fb5a Co-authored-by: WillemJiang <219644+WillemJiang@users.noreply.github.com> --------- Co-authored-by: copilot-swe-agent[bot] <198982749+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(persistence): per-user filesystem isolation, run-scoped APIs, and state/history simplification (#2153)
* feat(persistence): add unified persistence layer with event store, token tracking, and feedback (#1930) * feat(persistence): add SQLAlchemy 2.0 async ORM scaffold Introduce a unified database configuration (DatabaseConfig) that controls both the LangGraph checkpointer and the DeerFlow application persistence layer from a single `database:` config section. New modules: - deerflow.config.database_config — Pydantic config with memory/sqlite/postgres backends - deerflow.persistence — async engine lifecycle, DeclarativeBase with to_dict mixin, Alembic skeleton - deerflow.runtime.runs.store — RunStore ABC + MemoryRunStore implementation Gateway integration initializes/tears down the persistence engine in the existing langgraph_runtime() context manager. Legacy checkpointer config is preserved for backward compatibility. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add RunEventStore ABC + MemoryRunEventStore Phase 2-A prerequisite for event storage: adds the unified run event stream interface (RunEventStore) with an in-memory implementation, RunEventsConfig, gateway integration, and comprehensive tests (27 cases). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add ORM models, repositories, DB/JSONL event stores, RunJournal, and API endpoints Phase 2-B: run persistence + event storage + token tracking. - ORM models: RunRow (with token fields), ThreadMetaRow, RunEventRow - RunRepository implements RunStore ABC via SQLAlchemy ORM - ThreadMetaRepository with owner access control - DbRunEventStore with trace content truncation and cursor pagination - JsonlRunEventStore with per-run files and seq recovery from disk - RunJournal (BaseCallbackHandler) captures LLM/tool/lifecycle events, accumulates token usage by caller type, buffers and flushes to store - RunManager now accepts optional RunStore for persistent backing - Worker creates RunJournal, writes human_message, injects callbacks - Gateway deps use factory functions (RunRepository when DB available) - New endpoints: messages, run messages, run events, token-usage - ThreadCreateRequest gains assistant_id field - 92 tests pass (33 new), zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add user feedback + follow-up run association Phase 2-C: feedback and follow-up tracking. - FeedbackRow ORM model (rating +1/-1, optional message_id, comment) - FeedbackRepository with CRUD, list_by_run/thread, aggregate stats - Feedback API endpoints: create, list, stats, delete - follow_up_to_run_id in RunCreateRequest (explicit or auto-detected from latest successful run on the thread) - Worker writes follow_up_to_run_id into human_message event metadata - Gateway deps: feedback_repo factory + getter - 17 new tests (14 FeedbackRepository + 3 follow-up association) - 109 total tests pass, zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test+config: comprehensive Phase 2 test coverage + deprecate checkpointer config - config.example.yaml: deprecate standalone checkpointer section, activate unified database:sqlite as default (drives both checkpointer + app data) - New: test_thread_meta_repo.py (14 tests) — full ThreadMetaRepository coverage including check_access owner logic, list_by_owner pagination - Extended test_run_repository.py (+4 tests) — completion preserves fields, list ordering desc, limit, owner_none returns all - Extended test_run_journal.py (+8 tests) — on_chain_error, track_tokens=false, middleware no ai_message, unknown caller tokens, convenience fields, tool_error, non-summarization custom event - Extended test_run_event_store.py (+7 tests) — DB batch seq continuity, make_run_event_store factory (memory/db/jsonl/fallback/unknown) - Extended test_phase2b_integration.py (+4 tests) — create_or_reject persists, follow-up metadata, summarization in history, full DB-backed lifecycle - Fixed DB integration test to use proper fake objects (not MagicMock) for JSON-serializable metadata - 157 total Phase 2 tests pass, zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * config: move default sqlite_dir to .deer-flow/data Keep SQLite databases alongside other DeerFlow-managed data (threads, memory) under the .deer-flow/ directory instead of a top-level ./data folder. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): remove UTFJSON, use engine-level json_serializer + datetime.now() - Replace custom UTFJSON type with standard sqlalchemy.JSON in all ORM models. Add json_serializer=json.dumps(ensure_ascii=False) to all create_async_engine calls so non-ASCII text (Chinese etc.) is stored as-is in both SQLite and Postgres. - Change ORM datetime defaults from datetime.now(UTC) to datetime.now(), remove UTC imports. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): simplify deps.py with getter factory + inline repos - Replace 6 identical getter functions with _require() factory. - Inline 3 _make_*_repo() factories into langgraph_runtime(), call get_session_factory() once instead of 3 times. - Add thread_meta upsert in start_run (services.py). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(docker): add UV_EXTRAS build arg for optional dependencies Support installing optional dependency groups (e.g. postgres) at Docker build time via UV_EXTRAS build arg: UV_EXTRAS=postgres docker compose build Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(journal): fix flush, token tracking, and consolidate tests RunJournal fixes: - _flush_sync: retain events in buffer when no event loop instead of dropping them; worker's finally block flushes via async flush(). - on_llm_end: add tool_calls filter and caller=="lead_agent" guard for ai_message events; mark message IDs for dedup with record_llm_usage. - worker.py: persist completion data (tokens, message count) to RunStore in finally block. Model factory: - Auto-inject stream_usage=True for BaseChatOpenAI subclasses with custom api_base, so usage_metadata is populated in streaming responses. Test consolidation: - Delete test_phase2b_integration.py (redundant with existing tests). - Move DB-backed lifecycle test into test_run_journal.py. - Add tests for stream_usage injection in test_model_factory.py. - Clean up executor/task_tool dead journal references. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): widen content type to str|dict in all store backends Allow event content to be a dict (for structured OpenAI-format messages) in addition to plain strings. Dict values are JSON-serialized for the DB backend and deserialized on read; memory and JSONL backends handle dicts natively. Trace truncation now serializes dicts to JSON before measuring. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(events): use metadata flag instead of heuristic for dict content detection Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(converters): add LangChain-to-OpenAI message format converters Pure functions langchain_to_openai_message, langchain_to_openai_completion, langchain_messages_to_openai, and _infer_finish_reason for converting LangChain BaseMessage objects to OpenAI Chat Completions format, used by RunJournal for event storage. 15 unit tests added. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(converters): handle empty list content as null, clean up test Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): human_message content uses OpenAI user message format Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): ai_message uses OpenAI format, add ai_tool_call message event - ai_message content now uses {"role": "assistant", "content": "..."} format - New ai_tool_call message event emitted when lead_agent LLM responds with tool_calls - ai_tool_call uses langchain_to_openai_message converter for consistent format - Both events include finish_reason in metadata ("stop" or "tool_calls") Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): add tool_result message event with OpenAI tool message format Cache tool_call_id from on_tool_start keyed by run_id as fallback for on_tool_end, then emit a tool_result message event (role=tool, tool_call_id, content) after each successful tool completion. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): summary content uses OpenAI system message format Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): replace llm_start/llm_end with llm_request/llm_response in OpenAI format Add on_chat_model_start to capture structured prompt messages as llm_request events. Replace llm_end trace events with llm_response using OpenAI Chat Completions format. Track llm_call_index to pair request/response events. Add get_run_context() in deps.py to build the base context from app.state singletons. start_run() uses dataclasses.replace() to enrich per-run fields before passing ctx to run_agent. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): move sanitize_log_param to app/gateway/utils.py Extract the log-injection sanitizer from routers/threads.py into a shared utils module and rename to sanitize_log_param (public API). Eliminates the reverse service → router import in services.py. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf: use SQL aggregation for feedback stats and thread token usage Replace Python-side counting in FeedbackRepository.aggregate_by_run with a single SELECT COUNT/SUM query. Add RunStore.aggregate_tokens_by_thread abstract method with SQL GROUP BY implementation in RunRepository and Python fallback in MemoryRunStore. Simplify the thread_token_usage endpoint to delegate to the new method, eliminating the limit=10000 truncation risk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs: annotate DbRunEventStore.put() as low-frequency path Add docstring clarifying that put() opens a per-call transaction with FOR UPDATE and should only be used for infrequent writes (currently just the initial human_message event). High-throughput callers should use put_batch() instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(threads): fall back to Store search when ThreadMetaRepository is unavailable When database.backend=memory (default) or no SQL session factory is configured, search_threads now queries the LangGraph Store instead of returning 503. Returns empty list if neither Store nor repo is available. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): introduce ThreadMetaStore ABC for backend-agnostic thread metadata Add ThreadMetaStore abstract base class with create/get/search/update/delete interface. ThreadMetaRepository (SQL) now inherits from it. New MemoryThreadMetaStore wraps LangGraph BaseStore for memory-mode deployments. deps.py now always provides a non-None thread_meta_repo, eliminating all `if thread_meta_repo is not None` guards in services.py, worker.py, and routers/threads.py. search_threads no longer needs a Store fallback branch. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(history): read messages from checkpointer instead of RunEventStore The /history endpoint now reads messages directly from the checkpointer's channel_values (the authoritative source) instead of querying RunEventStore.list_messages(). The RunEventStore API is preserved for other consumers. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(persistence): address new Copilot review comments - feedback.py: validate thread_id/run_id before deleting feedback - jsonl.py: add path traversal protection with ID validation - run_repo.py: parse `before` to datetime for PostgreSQL compat - thread_meta_repo.py: fix pagination when metadata filter is active - database_config.py: use resolve_path for sqlite_dir consistency Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Implement skill self-evolution and skill_manage flow (#1874) * chore: ignore .worktrees directory * Add skill_manage self-evolution flow * Fix CI regressions for skill_manage * Address PR review feedback for skill evolution * fix(skill-evolution): preserve history on delete * fix(skill-evolution): tighten scanner fallbacks * docs: add skill_manage e2e evidence screenshot * fix(skill-manage): avoid blocking fs ops in session runtime --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> * fix(config): resolve sqlite_dir relative to CWD, not Paths.base_dir resolve_path() resolves relative to Paths.base_dir (.deer-flow), which double-nested the path to .deer-flow/.deer-flow/data/app.db. Use Path.resolve() (CWD-relative) instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Feature/feishu receive file (#1608) * feat(feishu): add channel file materialization hook for inbound messages - Introduce Channel.receive_file(msg, thread_id) as a base method for file materialization; default is no-op. - Implement FeishuChannel.receive_file to download files/images from Feishu messages, save to sandbox, and inject virtual paths into msg.text. - Update ChannelManager to call receive_file for any channel if msg.files is present, enabling downstream model access to user-uploaded files. - No impact on Slack/Telegram or other channels (they inherit the default no-op). * style(backend): format code with ruff for lint compliance - Auto-formatted packages/harness/deerflow/agents/factory.py and tests/test_create_deerflow_agent.py using `ruff format` - Ensured both files conform to project linting standards - Fixes CI lint check failures caused by code style issues * fix(feishu): handle file write operation asynchronously to prevent blocking * fix(feishu): rename GetMessageResourceRequest to _GetMessageResourceRequest and remove redundant code * test(feishu): add tests for receive_file method and placeholder replacement * fix(manager): remove unnecessary type casting for channel retrieval * fix(feishu): update logging messages to reflect resource handling instead of image * fix(feishu): sanitize filename by replacing invalid characters in file uploads * fix(feishu): improve filename sanitization and reorder image key handling in message processing * fix(feishu): add thread lock to prevent filename conflicts during file downloads * fix(test): correct bad merge in test_feishu_parser.py * chore: run ruff and apply formatting cleanup fix(feishu): preserve rich-text attachment order and improve fallback filename handling * fix(docker): restore gateway env vars and fix langgraph empty arg issue (#1915) Two production docker-compose.yaml bugs prevent `make up` from working: 1. fix(jina): log transient failures at WARNING without traceback (#2484) (#2485)
The exception handler in JinaClient.crawl used logger.exception, which emits an ERROR-level record with the full httpx/httpcore/anyio traceback for every transient network failure (timeout, connection refused). Other search/crawl providers in the project log the same class of recoverable failures as a single line. One offline/slow-network session could produce dozens of multi-frame ERROR stack traces, drowning out real problems. Switch to logger.warning with a concise message that includes the exception type and its str, matching the style used elsewhere for recoverable transient failures (aio_sandbox, ddg, etc.). The exception type now also surfaces into the returned "Error: ..." string so callers retain diagnostic signal. Adds a regression test that asserts the log record is WARNING, carries no exc_info, and includes the exception class name. fix: wrap blocking readability call with asyncio.to_thread in web_fetch (#2157)
* fix: wrap blocking readability call with asyncio.to_thread in web_fetch The readability extractor internally spawns a Node.js subprocess via readabilipy, which blocks the async event loop and causes a BlockingError when web_fetch is invoked inside LangGraph's async runtime. Wrap the synchronous extract_article call with asyncio.to_thread to offload it to a thread pool, unblocking the event loop. Note: community/infoquest/tools.py has the same latent issue and should be addressed in a follow-up PR. Closes #2152 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * test: verify web_fetch offloads extraction via asyncio.to_thread Add a regression test that monkeypatches asyncio.to_thread to confirm readability extraction is offloaded to a worker thread, preventing future refactors from reintroducing the blocking call. Addresses Copilot review feedback on #2157. fix(sandbox): add startup reconciliation to prevent orphaned container leaks (#1976)
* fix(sandbox): add startup reconciliation to prevent orphaned container leaks Sandbox containers were never cleaned up when the managing process restarted, because all lifecycle tracking lived in in-memory dictionaries. This adds startup reconciliation that enumerates running containers via `docker ps` and either destroys orphans (age > idle_timeout) or adopts them into the warm pool. Closes #1972 * fix(sandbox): address Copilot review — adopt-all strategy, improved error handling - Reconciliation now adopts all containers into warm pool unconditionally, letting the idle checker decide cleanup. Avoids destroying containers that another concurrent process may still be using. - list_running() logs stderr on docker ps failure and catches FileNotFoundError/OSError. - Signal handler test restores SIGTERM/SIGINT in addition to SIGHUP. - E2E test docstring corrected to match actual coverage scope. * fix(sandbox): address maintainer review — batch inspect, lock tightening, import hygiene - _reconcile_orphans(): merge check-and-insert into a single lock acquisition per container to eliminate the TOCTOU window. - list_running(): batch the per-container docker inspect into a single call. Total subprocess calls drop from 2N+1 to 2 (one ps + one batch inspect). Parse port and created_at from the inspect JSON payload. - Extract _parse_docker_timestamp() and _extract_host_port() as module-level pure helpers and test them directly. - Move datetime/json imports to module top level. - _make_provider_for_reconciliation(): document the __new__ bypass and the lockstep coupling to AioSandboxProvider.__init__. - Add assertion that list_running() makes exactly ONE inspect call. |

refactor: replace sync requests with async httpx in Jina AI client (#1603)
* refactor: replace sync requests with async httpx in Jina AI client Replace synchronous `requests.post()` with `httpx.AsyncClient` in JinaClient.crawl() and make web_fetch_tool async. This is part of the planned async concurrency optimization for the agent hot path (see docs/TODO.md). * fix: address Copilot review feedback on async Jina client - Short-circuit error strings in web_fetch_tool before passing to ReadabilityExtractor, preventing misleading extraction results - Log missing JINA_API_KEY warning only once per process to reduce noise under concurrent async fetching - Use logger.exception instead of logger.error in crawl exception handler to preserve stack traces for debugging - Add async web_fetch_tool tests and warn-once coverage * fix: mock get_app_config in web_fetch_tool tests for CI The web_fetch_tool tests failed in CI because get_app_config requires a config.yaml file that isn't present in the test environment. Mock the config loader to remove the filesystem dependency. --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix: use safe docker bind mount syntax for sandbox mounts (#1655)
Docker's -v host:container syntax is ambiguous for Windows drive-letter paths (e.g. D:/...) because ':' is both the drive separator and the volume separator, causing mount failures on Windows hosts. Introduce _format_container_mount() which uses '--mount type=bind,...' for Docker (unambiguous on all platforms) and keeps '-v' for Apple Container runtime which does not support the --mount flag yet. Adds unit tests covering Windows paths, read-only mounts, and Apple Container pass-through. Made-with: Cursor |

fix(sandbox): serialize concurrent exec_command calls in AioSandbox (#1435)
* fix(sandbox): serialize concurrent exec_command calls in AioSandbox The AIO sandbox container maintains a single persistent shell session that corrupts when multiple exec_command requests arrive concurrently (e.g. when ToolNode issues parallel tool_calls). The corrupted session returns 'ErrorObservation' strings as output, cascading into subsequent commands. Add a threading.Lock to AioSandbox to serialize shell commands. As a secondary defense, detect ErrorObservation in output and retry with a fresh session ID. Fixes #1433 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sandbox): address Copilot review findings - Fix shell injection in list_dir: use shlex.quote(path) to escape user-provided paths in the find command - Narrow ErrorObservation retry condition from broad substring match to the specific corruption signature to prevent false retries - Improve test_lock_prevents_concurrent_execution: use threading.Barrier to ensure all workers contend for the lock simultaneously - Improve test_list_dir_uses_lock: assert lock.locked() is True during exec_command to verify lock acquisition * style: auto-format with ruff --------- Co-authored-by: Matt Van Horn <455140+mvanhorn@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(harness): integration ACP agent tool (#1344)
* refactor: extract shared utils to break harness→app cross-layer imports Move _validate_skill_frontmatter to src/skills/validation.py and CONVERTIBLE_EXTENSIONS + convert_file_to_markdown to src/utils/file_conversion.py. This eliminates the two reverse dependencies from client.py (harness layer) into gateway/routers/ (app layer), preparing for the harness/app package split. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor: split backend/src into harness (deerflow.*) and app (app.*) Physically split the monolithic backend/src/ package into two layers: - **Harness** (`packages/harness/deerflow/`): publishable agent framework package with import prefix `deerflow.*`. Contains agents, sandbox, tools, models, MCP, skills, config, and all core infrastructure. - **App** (`app/`): unpublished application code with import prefix `app.*`. Contains gateway (FastAPI REST API) and channels (IM integrations). Key changes: - Move 13 harness modules to packages/harness/deerflow/ via git mv - Move gateway + channels to app/ via git mv - Rename all imports: src.* → deerflow.* (harness) / app.* (app layer) - Set up uv workspace with deerflow-harness as workspace member - Update langgraph.json, config.example.yaml, all scripts, Docker files - Add build-system (hatchling) to harness pyproject.toml - Add PYTHONPATH=. to gateway startup commands for app.* resolution - Update ruff.toml with known-first-party for import sorting - Update all documentation to reflect new directory structure Boundary rule enforced: harness code never imports from app. All 429 tests pass. Lint clean. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: add harness→app boundary check test and update docs Add test_harness_boundary.py that scans all Python files in packages/harness/deerflow/ and fails if any `from app.*` or `import app.*` statement is found. This enforces the architectural rule that the harness layer never depends on the app layer. Update CLAUDE.md to document the harness/app split architecture, import conventions, and the boundary enforcement test. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat: add config versioning with auto-upgrade on startup When config.example.yaml schema changes, developers' local config.yaml files can silently become outdated. This adds a config_version field and auto-upgrade mechanism so breaking changes (like src.* → deerflow.* renames) are applied automatically before services start. - Add config_version: 1 to config.example.yaml - Add startup version check warning in AppConfig.from_file() - Add scripts/config-upgrade.sh with migration registry for value replacements - Add `make config-upgrade` target - Auto-run config-upgrade in serve.sh and start-daemon.sh before starting services - Add config error hints in service failure messages Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix comments * fix: update src.* import in test_sandbox_tools_security to deerflow.* Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: handle empty config and search parent dirs for config.example.yaml Address Copilot review comments on PR #1131: - Guard against yaml.safe_load() returning None for empty config files - Search parent directories for config.example.yaml instead of only looking next to config.yaml, fixing detection in common setups Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: correct skills root path depth and config_version type coercion - loader.py: fix get_skills_root_path() to use 5 parent levels (was 3) after harness split, file lives at packages/harness/deerflow/skills/ so parent×3 resolved to backend/packages/harness/ instead of backend/ - app_config.py: coerce config_version to int() before comparison in _check_config_version() to prevent TypeError when YAML stores value as string (e.g. config_version: "1") - tests: add regression tests for both fixes Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: update test imports from src.* to deerflow.*/app.* after harness refactor Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(harness): add tool-first ACP agent invocation (#37) * feat(harness): add tool-first ACP agent invocation * build(harness): make ACP dependency required * fix(harness): address ACP review feedback * feat(harness): decouple ACP agent workspace from thread data ACP agents (codex, claude-code) previously used per-thread workspace directories, causing path resolution complexity and coupling task execution to DeerFlow's internal thread data layout. This change: - Replace _resolve_cwd() with a fixed _get_work_dir() that always uses {base_dir}/acp-workspace/, eliminating virtual path translation and thread_id lookups - Introduce /mnt/acp-workspace virtual path for lead agent read-only access to ACP agent output files (same pattern as /mnt/skills) - Add security guards: read-only validation, path traversal prevention, command path allowlisting, and output masking for acp-workspace - Update system prompt and tool description to guide LLM: send self-contained tasks to ACP agents, copy results via /mnt/acp-workspace - Add 11 new security tests for ACP workspace path handling Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(prompt): inject ACP section only when ACP agents are configured The ACP agent guidance in the system prompt is now conditionally built by _build_acp_section(), which checks get_acp_agents() and returns an empty string when no ACP agents are configured. This avoids polluting the prompt with irrelevant instructions for users who don't use ACP. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix lint * fix(harness): address Copilot review comments on sandbox path handling and ACP tool - local_sandbox: fix path-segment boundary bug in _resolve_path (== or startswith +"/") and add lookahead in _resolve_paths_in_command regex to prevent /mnt/skills matching inside /mnt/skills-extra - local_sandbox_provider: replace print() with logger.warning(..., exc_info=True) - invoke_acp_agent_tool: guard getattr(option, "optionId") with None default + continue; move full prompt from INFO to DEBUG level (truncated to 200 chars) - sandbox/tools: fix _get_acp_workspace_host_path docstring to match implementation; remove misleading "read-only" language from validate_local_bash_command_paths Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(acp): thread-isolated workspaces, permission guardrail, and ContextVar registry P1.1 – ACP workspace thread isolation - Add `Paths.acp_workspace_dir(thread_id)` for per-thread paths - `_get_work_dir(thread_id)` in invoke_acp_agent_tool now uses `{base_dir}/threads/{thread_id}/acp-workspace/`; falls back to global workspace when thread_id is absent or invalid - `_invoke` extracts thread_id from `RunnableConfig` via `Annotated[RunnableConfig, InjectedToolArg]` - `sandbox/tools.py`: `_get_acp_workspace_host_path(thread_id)`, `_resolve_acp_workspace_path(path, thread_id)`, and all callers (`replace_virtual_paths_in_command`, `mask_local_paths_in_output`, `ls_tool`, `read_file_tool`) now resolve ACP paths per-thread P1.2 – ACP permission guardrail - New `auto_approve_permissions: bool = False` field in `ACPAgentConfig` - `_build_permission_response(options, *, auto_approve: bool)` now defaults to deny; only approves when `auto_approve=True` - Document field in `config.example.yaml` P2 – Deferred tool registry race condition - Replace module-level `_registry` global with `contextvars.ContextVar` - Each asyncio request context gets its own registry; worker threads inherit the context automatically via `loop.run_in_executor` - Expose `get_deferred_registry` / `set_deferred_registry` / `reset_deferred_registry` helpers Tests: 831 pass (57 for affected modules, 3 new tests) Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sandbox): mount /mnt/acp-workspace in docker sandbox container The AioSandboxProvider was not mounting the ACP workspace into the sandbox container, so /mnt/acp-workspace was inaccessible when the lead agent tried to read ACP results in docker mode. Changes: - `ensure_thread_dirs`: also create `acp-workspace/` (chmod 0o777) so the directory exists before the sandbox container starts — required for Docker volume mounts - `_get_thread_mounts`: add read-only `/mnt/acp-workspace` mount using the per-thread host path (`host_paths.acp_workspace_dir(thread_id)`) - Update stale CLAUDE.md description (was "fixed global workspace") Tests: `test_aio_sandbox_provider.py` (4 new tests) Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(lint): remove unused imports in test_aio_sandbox_provider Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix config --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

refactor: split backend into harness (deerflow.*) and app (app.*) (#1131)
* refactor: extract shared utils to break harness→app cross-layer imports Move _validate_skill_frontmatter to src/skills/validation.py and CONVERTIBLE_EXTENSIONS + convert_file_to_markdown to src/utils/file_conversion.py. This eliminates the two reverse dependencies from client.py (harness layer) into gateway/routers/ (app layer), preparing for the harness/app package split. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor: split backend/src into harness (deerflow.*) and app (app.*) Physically split the monolithic backend/src/ package into two layers: - **Harness** (`packages/harness/deerflow/`): publishable agent framework package with import prefix `deerflow.*`. Contains agents, sandbox, tools, models, MCP, skills, config, and all core infrastructure. - **App** (`app/`): unpublished application code with import prefix `app.*`. Contains gateway (FastAPI REST API) and channels (IM integrations). Key changes: - Move 13 harness modules to packages/harness/deerflow/ via git mv - Move gateway + channels to app/ via git mv - Rename all imports: src.* → deerflow.* (harness) / app.* (app layer) - Set up uv workspace with deerflow-harness as workspace member - Update langgraph.json, config.example.yaml, all scripts, Docker files - Add build-system (hatchling) to harness pyproject.toml - Add PYTHONPATH=. to gateway startup commands for app.* resolution - Update ruff.toml with known-first-party for import sorting - Update all documentation to reflect new directory structure Boundary rule enforced: harness code never imports from app. All 429 tests pass. Lint clean. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: add harness→app boundary check test and update docs Add test_harness_boundary.py that scans all Python files in packages/harness/deerflow/ and fails if any `from app.*` or `import app.*` statement is found. This enforces the architectural rule that the harness layer never depends on the app layer. Update CLAUDE.md to document the harness/app split architecture, import conventions, and the boundary enforcement test. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat: add config versioning with auto-upgrade on startup When config.example.yaml schema changes, developers' local config.yaml files can silently become outdated. This adds a config_version field and auto-upgrade mechanism so breaking changes (like src.* → deerflow.* renames) are applied automatically before services start. - Add config_version: 1 to config.example.yaml - Add startup version check warning in AppConfig.from_file() - Add scripts/config-upgrade.sh with migration registry for value replacements - Add `make config-upgrade` target - Auto-run config-upgrade in serve.sh and start-daemon.sh before starting services - Add config error hints in service failure messages Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix comments * fix: update src.* import in test_sandbox_tools_security to deerflow.* Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: handle empty config and search parent dirs for config.example.yaml Address Copilot review comments on PR #1131: - Guard against yaml.safe_load() returning None for empty config files - Search parent directories for config.example.yaml instead of only looking next to config.yaml, fixing detection in common setups Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: correct skills root path depth and config_version type coercion - loader.py: fix get_skills_root_path() to use 5 parent levels (was 3) after harness split, file lives at packages/harness/deerflow/skills/ so parent×3 resolved to backend/packages/harness/ instead of backend/ - app_config.py: coerce config_version to int() before comparison in _check_config_version() to prevent TypeError when YAML stores value as string (e.g. config_version: "1") - tests: add regression tests for both fixes Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: update test imports from src.* to deerflow.*/app.* after harness refactor Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |
